We are surrounded by Alternative Energy sources if we just care to utilise them.
Most people immediately think of solar energy which utilises photovoltaic cells to capture energy from the sun and fortunately these cells are becoming more affordable.
The Solar energy power provides a lot of helpful uses such as for generating electricity, heating and making hot water with the fact that it can cause no pollution since it is entirely dependable on the rays of the sun.
Even so, we are still in the early days of using this ‘free’ source of unlimited energy and a good deal more research and development is still required. Since solar energy cannot be used during the evening and on gloomy days, provisions on the resource is unavoidable that is why backups in the form of storage batteries are utilized.

The water is drawn up by various different methods-there are “dry steam” power plants, “flash” power plants, and “binary” power plants for harnessing geothermal energy. When hot water is drawn up, it simply means that there is the need to gather steam.
It is in the USA where this technology has become world famous with ‘the Geysers’ dry steam power plant not that far from San Francisco.

As the price of oil grows and the economy continues to stumble, the people realize that something must be done. What is that something? Well that something is turning our attention away from fossil fuels that are expensive and ruin the environment, towards some form of Alternative Energy that can, in the long run save the people money and help prevent mass pollution.To date, the United States is one of the largest users of fossil fuels in the world which has devastating effects of the environment. So of course a better form of energy must be found. Fortunately we don’t even need to look because Alternative Energy has been around for years. These different forms of Alternative Energy include wind, water, and sun. We could easily harvest the different forms of Alternative Energy that are seemingly endless in supply and help the fix the energy crisis as well as many of the world’s problems with pollution. Transitions to accommodate the harvest of this Alternative Energy may be expensive but the Wind Mills that would harvest wind power would pay for themselves in a matter of years, the Solar panels that would gather the sun’s rays would do the same and the hydro generators that are powered with water are in the same boat. These Alternative Energy sources are safe, healthy and after a few years they even become much cheaper than conventional fossil fuels since the supply would be constant and not depends on the demand of the populace. These forms of Alternative Energy help the world become a cleaner place for ourselves and brighten the future for generations to come.Contributing to the fight for Alternative Energy is simple. You can have solar panels installed, which although expensive can actually turn a profit in the long run, or if you cannot do that then write to your local senator or congressman demanding that legislation supporting the creation of Alternative Energy and significantly decreasing the dependence on fossil fuels be passed. They were elected by us, so they work for us. Make your voices heard!

What’s so great about wind energy? There are many benefits to choosing this alternative energy source:

For personal residential use, electricity generated by a wind turbine on your roof and the power supplied by a local utility are combined. Why the need for local power supply when you already have wind energy? As a result, local power supplies pick up the slack when the wind power generated is insufficient.
In some cases, you may find that your system generates more energy than you can use.

There are some considerations to take into account before installing wind turbines: location, general weather condition, zoning ordinances, size of home, and amount of investment. The wind option works best in high locations and in generally windy places. Your house should not be blocked by taller buildings or trees, allowing more wind action to propel the turbine blades to generate electricity.
There are two wind turbine types – horizontal axis wind and vertical axis wind turbines. The horizontal axis wind turbine produces more electricity but it has to be positioned to face the wind. The vertical turbine can catch wind coming from different directions, which makes this turbine a popular option.
For the home, wind turbines rated five up to 15 kilowatts can provide significant amounts of electricity. A turbine can be very large or, for home use, small turbines with a diameter measuring one meter or less will be appropriate. Unless you are a serious do-it-yourselfer, consider hiring a consultant to help you find the best solution for your particular needs. An expert can help with wind speed calculations, the best manufacturers, and provide installation and maintenance.
With all that wind blowing so freely, consider harnessing the power for your benefit. By converting wind to electricity, you can significantly reduce your residential consumption by 50 to 90 percent.
