Do you know the Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Green Energy Sources?

Today, we are now aware of the effects of global warming. Fortunately, it isn’t too far past and that we can continue to change which is why most are pushing for green energy resources.
The benefit of using green energy sources is that it is clean so it does not emit anything harmful in to the air which has an impact on the environment. It is also renewable meaning we will never exhaust it unlike oil which is expected to dry out in a decade or so.
Although green energy facilities are costly to construct, it takes less maintenance so you don’t have to shell out a lot of money to operate it.
It can also bring economic benefits to certain areas and even boost tourism.
While these sound good, there are several who say that there are advantages to using such technology.
As the weather conditions are something we cannot control, it is not everyday that there is a weather disturbance which shall pass. If solar power has been used and the sun is included, the emergency generators will be activated and employed in the souped up that was stored.
The thing is there are ways around the arguments put by certain individuals which discourage the use of green powers. Actually, research is ongoing to try and harness other means to generate the power we need.
A very good example of this is known as ocean thermal energy. Power is generated by harnessing the various temperatures within the water. It’s currently being utilized on a little scale both in Japan and Hawaii.
In America, only 7% of green powers are used nationally. It was much higher 11 years ago and when we do not have to worry about the cost of oil as well as reduce our reliance upon it, we have to invest more within this clean energy.
We can have green energy sources such as biomass, biodiesel, geothermal, solar, water and the wind. These are things most of us have around us and all it takes is perfect for someone to harness it instead of relying on traditional non-renewable means to produce energy.

Kermit the Frog Famously Sang “It’s Not Easy Being Green”? Now we are Finding out That He Was Spot On

Hybrid autos like the Toyota Prius offer better km’s to the litre of fuel without losing size or comfort, while electric automobiles undertake to transport us without the need for crude oil.
Each company is trying hard to get the best green stamp for their products, whether green cleaning companies or software developers. Windmills are now not the quaint Dutch paintings you see hanging on art studio walls; they are turning up on farms, mountain ridges, even in the ocean. Many governments seem to launch a new energy initiative every week, with the promise of more green jobs to counterbalance any transient agony in your wallet.
But while these green possibilities may now appear pervasive, they are not basically as common as we think. Take electricity: a minute quantity of our electricity came from renewable sources and most of that is hydroelectric power, not wind or solar. Nuclear power generation was beginning to look like a choice, but it is not very likely to get up in the trail of Japan’s nuclear disaster.
Green technology, particularly in cars, will get a big boost from higher oil prices. That's the good news. The bad news is that those increased prices result from higher demand in China and the 3rd world. Since November 2009, China has become the biggest auto market in the world. China’s car industry has been in fast development as far back as the early 1990s. In 2009, China produced 13.79 million vehicles, of which 8 million were passenger cars and 3.41 million were commercial autos. Most of the cars manufactured in China are sold within China, with only 369,600 vehicles being exported in 2009. This increasing demand for vehicles will have a huge impact on oil prices worldwide.
While we consume less oil, we might not be slowing the rate of fossil-fuel consumption; we may just be transferring that consumption some other place. Unless we somehow stop burning ordinary fuels, all of the carbon currently under the Earth’s surface will finish up in the atmosphere in the following few hundred years. As the physicist Robert B. Laughlin lately indicated in The American Scholar, from the Earth’s point of view, about a hundred years is less than the blink of an eye. But unfortunately that's not right for human lives which should be altered considerably.
Unfortunately, though we have better and better technologies that enable us to use less fossil fuel, yet we now do not have any scalable way to use no carbon, or anything close to none. Even speedily maturing technologies like wind power need carbon intensive backup generation capacity for those times when the wind does not blow. Nobody has yet designed a hybrid commercial airplane. Being green, we’re finding out, is going to be trickier than it sounds.

Getting Optimum Performance From Your Solar Panels To Produce More Electricity _ How To Do It

You can definitely produce power by using solar panels. But just how much your panels produce is dependent on several important factors.
First and probably the most important factor is how much sun your region gets. If you live in a hot, dry, desert region or at a high altitude, you have an advantage. For people living in other areas, be aware that the more sunny days you have and the brighter the sun is when it shines, the better.
For a solar panel to harvest enough light from the sun to produce a good amount of power, you really need bright, full, shadow-free sunlight. So your panels will not generate as much electricity if your region tends to have a lot of cloudy weather.
The main problem that homeowners with solar panels face is shadow. Even just a small amount of shade can adversely affect performance. That’s because when even a part of the panel is in shadow, voltage output drops.
There are certain times of the day when shade and shadows are unavoidable, such as the early part of the morning or later on in the afternoon. Don’t be concerned with shadow at these times though. With the sun being at an extreme angle, there is little power being generated in any case. But it is very important that shade or shadow is avoided between the hours of about 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. when the sun is more directly overhead.
It’s best to install panels on mounts angled toward the sun. When you do that you are ensured of getting optimum production from the modules. It’s also a good idea to adjust the angles of these mounts seasonally since the position of the sun varies from season to season.
Finally, it’s important to properly maintain your solar panels. The good news is that because there are no moving parts there is really very little maintenance required. Basically, you just have to keep them clean.
Rain can take care of this maintenance for you as long as it falls on a regular basis and lasts for a few hours at a time. Otherwise, you can use a hose to easily clean the panels. Never use a hose during the hottest time of the day to avoid problems. The best time to clean the panels is in the morning or during the evening.

Chinese Ambitions For Green Energy

Green energy is expected to be the great industry of the 21st Century, paying great dividends to the country or countries that pioneer and successfully capitalize on it. Economically, environmentally, and even militarily, the capability to produce sustainable forms of energy is really a prize that will set the fate of the world for centuries to come.
Unfortunately, the United States is in danger of losing the green energy race. Our nation is addicted to oil and the politicians are addicted to corporate money, so change has been almost impossible.
On the other side of the world, literally, are the leaders of China, who have set out on an ambitious plan to produce solar panels as well as implement solar farms themselves for domestic use. The Chinese are also big on wind farms and nuclear power, other technologies which Americans first developed but have now abandoned.
Sounds ominous? The chattering classes are all up in arms about the issue, but nothing has been getting done, not even with the election of Barack Obama. The interests are just too entrenched. Everyone stands to lose some thing, and contemporary American culture seems to have lost sight of any notion of the common good.
It’s a crazy situation. There are American citizens, engineers and scientists, educated with American tax dollars, who now conduct their work in China or are employed by businesses that do the rest of their work there. In effect, United States tax dollars are educating the individuals whose work will ultimately benefit the Chinese!
Of course, these scientists and engineers are only working for the highest salaries. But the firms they work for – American firms, owned by American citizens – complain that they simply can’t do business here; they need to go where the action is, and that’s China. To do anything else would be like trying to sell ice at the North Pole.
