Go Green With Trees

Go outdoors and take a look at your landscape, if you’d like to make your home more energy efficient.
Although the changes can be slow, trees can have a potentially huge impact on your energy needs at home. Adding trees can also improve the environment while lowering your carbon footprint as well.
The kind of trees around your house and their location can make a difference in the environment inside, whether the area that you are living is warm or cool.
You need trees, if you consider air conditioning as one of life’s necessities. Although many people are cautious about trees too close to the house, a deciduous tree that shades your roof or casts shade over walls that would be baking in the sun – particularly in the afternoon – is a good thing.
Although poplars ranging from tulip to hybrid offer quick growth and shade, they also are known as softwoods, which means they are easier to break and more likely to be damaged in the winds of a summer storm or the ice of a winter one. Instead look for a more reliable variety such as a maple, some of which are fairly fast growing. Most oaks are slow to grow, although very durable once grown.
If these trees are strategically located on the south, east and especially the west of your home, they will be doing the most good since the temperature may begin climbing in the spring well before the sun is rising in the northern part of the eastern skyline. Keeping the hot afternoon sun off your house, trees on the west side will do the most to help keep temperatures down.
Not to be placed on the south side of the house, evergreens, such as pines or hemlocks can be included in the landscape for summer cooling. In the west they can help keep down the heat while other trees are still growing their foliage. On the south side, however, they would block the warm rays during the winter as well, when a solar heating is a good thing.
Evergreens can be beneficial year round when planted on the north side of your home. You will not want them too close to your house, however, as they are all softwoods and susceptible to breaking. At the same time, they can form a windbreak that helps keep the iciest northern breezes at bay, or at least lessens their impact during winter. By mid summer, when the sun is at its most northern point, they may offer a little shade, even if at a safer distance from the house.
On the east side of your house, trees are less important since the sun isn’t usually hot in the mornings. However, a little shade won’t hurt, so if you must, consider mainly deciduous trees to be planted there as well.

What’s Hot Throughout House Decor In 2011

Design consultants in home decor change “what’s hot” every year, just like fashion designers. Let’s look at some of the hottest trends for 2011 to present you some recommendations for making your home more stylish.
Call it nostalgia perhaps, but interior decorators definitely are looking to earlier times for inspiration. The home decorating phenomena has also extended to vintage themed weddings. What appears old in the 50′s, 60′s, or 80′s can give a new look to your home this year, so get your outdated chair frames, tables and couches and remember that you could always buy new upholstery for them. Second-hand stores and “thrift shops” are getting replaced by trendy “vintage furniture” as the places where you can get fresh ideas.
A number of designers are applying wall coverings instead of paint to more deeply enhance a room. Having a wide range available, you’re sure to find one that fits your theme. Maybe you have observed how many more wall murals are now being applied, in both homes and on the exteriors. There’s really no limitation to where these can be applied. Many people are prepared to purchase these modern murals because they can be taken off and re-installed when the purchaser moves. For a highly extraordinary theme you can color the ceiling with a metallic paint and install a sophisticated chandelier.
Eco-friendly ideas are actually gaining more reputation this year. If you’re not familiar with things that might make your house environment friendly, start by using LED lights and LED technologies in equipment such as your home television. You can even find kitchen products that are produced from eco-friendly materials. Although it’s tough to see any distinction, the eco-friendly variations are made from biodegradable materials. To get a more sophisticated look, experts advise that you make use of hanging lights, not only in the kitchen but in the bathroom and bedrooms as well.
The “in” color palette for 2011 re-introduces some old favorites all over again. When you’re thinking of buying outdoor furniture, coffee brown will be a popular hue this year, as will red. For a more traditional and timeless theme it’s possible to go with the neutral colors to establish a sophisticated effect. As outlined by style forecasts, aqua will continue to maintain its popularity due to its calming effect.
The preferred location in most homes continues to be the eat-in kitchen. If you want to upgrade your kitchen, come up with an open, spacious and well-ventilated environment. Take your time designing your kitchen and selecting the finishes because you’ll be living with them every day. To stay environmentally conscientious you ought to ask for recyclable materials anytime you can.
It is never too late to create a noticeable improvement to the style of your house, both inside and out. Hopefully you now have a good enough awareness of the popular styles for 2011 to apply a number of them in your own home. CCCleaner, Registry cleaners
