The HP LaserJet P1606dn is the replacement of the popular HP LaserJet P1505n. The P1606dn is almost identical to its predecessor P1505 in almost every way. The main differences are as mentioned are the eco friendly features introduced with P1606 and that the new printer is slightly faster than its predecessor.

The P1606dn prints black and white up to 25 page per minute with automatic duplex printout. It has a 400MHz process clock speed with 32MB of ram that produces a reasonable 7sec first page out speed. As a document printer the P1606dn has a max resolution of 600×600 dpi, which is quite standard for its market.
The LaserJet P1606dn is quite small that finding a place to put it at home or office should be easy. This unit measures at 38.60cm (w) x 28.44cm (d) x 24.63cm (h).

The yield and price of the toner is reasonable for home use, but for company and organizations that requires a fair amount of printing, the cost of toners can quickly add up.

It is worth mentioning that the 78A toner for this unit from HP is a toner and drum unit. This means that every time a toner is replaced, the drum goes with it. This we think is an amazing technology from Hewllet Packard, although on an average HP toners are slightly more expensive than its competitors, but if you factor in the cost of drums separately minus the hassle of replacing an extra part is well worth it.

In conclusion, although the MSRP tag is on the high end for entry level printers, but with many promotions and sales going, it is not hard to find a P1606dn at a bargain price.
